Step One: Meet the Requirements
To become a licensed real estate agent in Florida, you must meet specific requirements. In general, you must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. You must also complete a state-approved real estate course and pass a state exam.
Step Two: Register for the Course
Step two includes registering for your pre-license course registered with the Division of Real Estate. Once you are registered for the course, you must pass the final exam.
Step Three: Complete a Real Estate Course & Apply with the DBPR.
You will need to take a state-approved real estate course to complete your education. This can be done online or in person. The courses are typically around 63 hours long and will teach you about topics such as property ownership. We also recommend applying and submitting your fingerprints to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation within five days of submitting your license application. By doing this, your application process will run concurrent with your course.
Step Four: Pass the Florida Real Estate Exam
The next step in acquiring your Florida Real Estate License is to pass a state exam that tests you on real estate law, contracts, agency disclosure laws, and other relevant topics. Does the test cover material from what I should know about buying or selling homes? Yes, this means taking practical notes during class sessions will be very helpful.
This is the final step to getting your Florida Real Estate license. Once you have completed the education requirement and submitted your fingerprints, you are ready to schedule your exam.
